Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to purchases made from Nicholas Cameras Online through nicholascameras.com.

Please read them before placing an order. By placing an order through our website, you agree to these terms.

1. About us

Nicholas Cameras Online is an independent online retailer specialising in used, vintage and collectable cameras, lenses and photographic equipment.

Nicholas Cameras Online is a trading name used by the proprietor of the business.

For customer enquiries, please use our Contact Us page.

2. Products

Most of the products we sell are used, vintage or collectable items. Cosmetic condition, age and signs of previous use will therefore vary.

We aim to describe and photograph each item accurately. Product photographs form an important part of the description, particularly for individual used items.

Please refer to our Condition Guide for more information about the terminology we use.

Unless specifically stated in an individual listing, no particular level of technical testing should be assumed.

Only accessories shown in the photographs or specifically stated in the product description should be assumed to be included.

3. Availability

Many of our products are individual or one-off used items and are therefore available in limited quantities.

Adding an item to your basket does not reserve it.

If an item becomes unavailable after an order has been placed, we will contact you and refund any payment made for that item.

4. Prices

All prices are shown in pounds sterling (£).

Nicholas Cameras Online is not currently VAT registered and VAT is therefore not separately charged on sales.

Delivery charges, where applicable, are shown before you complete your order.

5. Orders

When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase the products in your order.

We will send an electronic acknowledgement after your order has been submitted. This does not necessarily mean that your order has been accepted.

We may decline or cancel an order where, for example:

  • an item is no longer available;

  • there has been an obvious pricing or listing error;

  • payment has not been authorised;

  • we reasonably suspect fraudulent or unauthorised activity; or

  • we are unable to fulfil the order.

If payment has already been taken for an order that cannot be fulfilled, the relevant amount will be refunded.

6. Payment

Available payment methods are shown during checkout.

Payment must be authorised before an order is dispatched or made available for collection.

Payments are processed securely through our payment service providers.

7. Delivery and collection

We currently deliver to UK addresses.

Available delivery methods and charges are shown during checkout.

Please ensure that delivery details are accurate when placing your order.

Further information is available on our Delivery & Collection page.

Collection may be available by prior arrangement on selected orders. Please do not travel to collect an order until collection has been confirmed.

8. Cancellations and returns

Consumers purchasing online normally have the right to cancel an order within 14 days of receiving the goods.

After notifying us that you wish to cancel, the goods should normally be returned within 14 days.

Please see our Returns & Refunds page for further information.

These cancellation rights are separate from your legal rights where goods are faulty, damaged or not as described.

9. Faulty or incorrectly described goods

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits your statutory consumer rights.

If an item is faulty, damaged on arrival or materially different from its description, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can investigate and provide an appropriate remedy.

The age or used condition of an item does not itself constitute a fault where that condition has been accurately described or clearly shown in the listing.

10. Vintage and collectable equipment

Older photographic equipment may have characteristics, limitations or age-related behaviour that would not normally be expected from new modern equipment.

Where relevant, customers should satisfy themselves that an item is compatible with their intended camera, lens, film, accessory or other equipment before ordering.

If you are uncertain about compatibility or a particular feature, please contact us before purchasing.

11. Website information

We aim to keep product descriptions, prices and other information accurate and up to date.

Occasionally there may be typographical errors, incorrect specifications or other mistakes. We may correct such errors when identified.

Product colours and appearance can also vary slightly depending on photography, lighting and the screen used to view the website.

12. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability that cannot legally be excluded under consumer law.

We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was made.

13. Personal information

We use personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Information may be shared with service providers where necessary to process payments, deliver orders, operate the website or provide customer service.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The terms applying to an order will normally be those published on the website when the order was placed.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Consumers elsewhere in the United Kingdom may also have rights under the mandatory laws that apply where they live.

16. Contact
